The Swan, Opus 7, was originally composed in 1905 for voice and piano with text by von Wadaw Berent. Szymanowski, after studying in Berlin, was influenced by R. Strauss and Debussy, but later took a simpler harmonic style with some debt to Polish folk music. He composed operas, symphonies, etc. (Source - Arthur Jacobs - A New Dictionary of Music)
