From the Publisher
Schonberg’s String Quartet No.2 (1908) is credited by many as being one of the first steps on his road to atonality. It is unique as a soprano soloist joins the quartet in the third movement. Whether or not the Litany is performed as a solo, it is valuale as a study - an introduction to Schonberg’s style. Litanei is also published with a piano reduction by Alban Berg (1885-1935). (B1708)
The poem Litanei was written by German poet Stefan George (1868-1933). It is from the collection of poems The Seventh Ring (1907). (Website Source - Wikipedia)
