Saint-Saens Romance, Double Bass & Piano (Orchestra Tuning).
From the Publisher
Charles Camille Saint-Saens (1835-1921) composed many short chamber pieces for two instruments. Among them is the Romance in D for Piano and Cello composed in 1877.
Although there are no original "duos" which include the double bass, Saint-Saens does include the bass in two chamber works - the Septet for Piano, Strings and Trumpet (1881) and the Carnival of the Animals - a Zoological Fantasy (1886). The "Carnival" originally was sort of a musical joke and reserved for private chamber music performance! The work was published in 1922 after his death and was not performed publicly during his lifetime.
