Massenet Meditation from Thais, Double Bass & Piano

Jules Emile Frederic Massenet was one of the leading French operatic composers of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Thais, Massenet’s romantic opera in three acts, was first produced at the Grand Opera in Paris in 1894. The ‘Meditation' is played as a violin solo with orchestral accompaniment while the scenery is changed between Scenes 1 and 2 ofAct 2. It has been arranged in many forms - organ solo, flute and piano, cello and piano, mandolin and piano, etc.
