Italian composer Ruggiero Leoncavallo was mainly a composer of operas. He studied at the Naples Conservatory. At the age of eighteen he left the Conservatory with the title of maestro. His opera Pagliacci (1892) is firmly established in the repertoire. Brise de men published in Berlin in 1906, was originally written for cello and piano.
