Handel-Halvorsen Sarabande con variazioni for Violin and Cello. Transcribed by Lucas Drew. Score and Parts.
From the Publisher
Norwegian composer, violinist and conductor Johan Halvorsen (1864-1935) wrote his Passacaglia and Sarabande originally for violin and viola duo. The Passacaglia is based upon the final movement of the Suite No. 7 G Minor for Harpsichord by GF. Handel (1685-1759); The Sarabande. Handel’s Harpsichord Suite in D. Minor. Both works have a lush, full string sound and are virtuosic. Halvorsen was married to a niece of Edvard Grieg.
In this edition of the Sarabande con Variazioni the original violin-viola score is enclosed. The second part is transcribed for Cello in lieu of the Viola.
The Passacaglia (B0408) and Sarabande (B0409) are arranged for string orchestra (string quartet) and are available through St. Francis Music Publications - also the duo version of the Sarabande for Violin and Double Bass (B0501).
