Faure Berceuse, Op. 16 for Double Bass & Piano

The rights to the "profitable" Berceuse for Violin and Piano (1880), Opus 16 were obtained gratuitously by Hamele, Gabriel Faure's publisher. According to Faure's biographer, Emile Buillermoz, the Berceuse was possibly arranged for cello and piano by Faure.

In his biography on Faure, Charles Koechlin comments that the Berceuse is a work one hears again and again with undiminished pleasure - a sign that its simplicity is not empty or trivial.
