English composer Rebecca Clarke, violist and composer, was a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music. As a violist, she was one of the first female orchestral players. She settled in the United States after World War II. The words of the poems by W.B. Yeats (1865-1939) are in the vocal/piano parts.
