The French composer Joseph Canteloube (1879-1957) studied with D’lndy at the Schola Cantorum. He arranged folksongs form his native province (Chants dAuvergne for Voice and Orchestra).
Beginning in 1949, Luigi Silva (1903-1961), noted Italian-American cello pedagogue, taught at the Julliard School. He was also cellist of the Mannes-Gimbel-Silva Trio.
