Buxtehude Sonata Movement for Unaccompanied Double Bass. Freely Adapted by Lucas Drew.
From the Publisher
German organist Dietrich Buxtehude (ca. 1637-1707) composed many liturgical and instrumental works. In 1705 J.S. Bach visited Buxtehude at Marienkirche in Lubeck to hear his “Abendmusik.” Buxtehudes Sonata for Viola da gamba (Violoncello) and Basso continuo is published in a scholary edition by Folkmar Langin (Schott-CB83). This edition of the Sonata Movement (Allegro moderato) for unaccompanied double bass is the first of the two movement Sonata for Viola da gamba. It may be used as a study or performed as a concert piece. Many opportunities exist in the phrasing for “voicing.”
